Canon EOS 5D - My main camera for the last 2 years. The 12 Megapixel full frame sensor delivers fantastic results. This is the camera that finally converted me to digital usage.
Canon 17-40 f4L lens (attached to camera)
-
My workhorse lens which I use for most of my photography.
A superb wideangle lens.

Sigma 50 f2.8 Macro lens - for the close up shots. For the price this lens is a real belter. |
Canon 15mm Fisheye lens - For the quirky shots. |
Canon 70-200 f4L lens - A lightweight good quality telephoto zoom. |
Sigma 24-70 f2.8 Ex lens - Generally I have found sigma lenses great value for money. Less than half the price of the Canon equivalent - it still delivers quality images. |
Electronic Cable Release - To release the shutter when the camera is on a tripod to prevent camera shake.. |
Sandisk Extreme 111 Memory Cards - I use these as they work well in low temperatures, so I can be confident that on top of a mountain in mid winter they will still work. |
Pentax67 11 -
Before I became a digital convert this was my main camera. A heavy camera - you could do weight training with it! We'll, it was not as portable as those camera-ready mobile phone handsets but it delivered good quality images. And yes, it's very durable too! I've dropped it several times but it still works fine. I rarely use it now but still enjoy the thrill of getting the slides back when I do.
45mm f4 Wideangle Lens - My main lens for the Pentax - cracking bit of gear! |
200mm f4 Telephoto Lens - My telephoto lens for the Pentax.
55-100 Zoom lens - *Not pictured as its off getting repaired after I dropped it on a road. A beautiful lens to use which produces great images.

Film - Velvia Most landscape photographers film of choice which is dead sharp with fine grain and saturated colours. |
Smarttrax 80Gb Portable Harddrive - For storing images. |
Spirit Level – Slots into the camera hotshoe so you can check the horizon is level, something that is surprisingly difficult to do through the viewfinder. |
Lee filters - Neutral density graduate filters are always in my camera bag. Indispensable for landscape work - they effectively darken the sky without changing its colour so the sensor or film can record detail in the sky as well as the land. |
Polariser Filter - Used to saturate colour and reduce glare from reflections. |
| Lee Filter Holder - So you can slot filters onto the front of your lens. I have slots for 2 filters at a time. |
Lee Filter Holder Adaptor Ring – For attaching the filter holder to the front of the lens. |
Memory Card Reader – For transferring files from the memory card onto the computer. |
Dell Inspiron 640M Laptop - With 2.16 Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of Ram this machine has enough oomf for processing big image files. Softwarewise I use Adobe Lightroom for working on raw files straight from the camera and photoshop cs3 to finish them off. |
Tripod - Manfrotto Carbon Fibre - Light and strong. |
Kata Photographers Rucksack BP502 – The best photographic rucksack I’ve come across. Lightweight for its size, great protection and padding with ample room inside. |
